Amir Berbic received a BFA in Graphic Design from UIC and an MFA in Visual Communication from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Currently an Associate Professor of Design at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, Amir teaches visual communication studio, history of design, and design foundations. His research interests are in place branding, dimensional typography, and design pedagogy. His design and writing have been featured in academic and professional publications, conferences and exhibitions including Hyperlinks: Architecture and Design at the Art Institute of Chicago, curated by Joseph Rosa and Zoe Ryan in 2010. http://amirberbic.com/

Thanks to the success of the Project Syncere summer camp students will be returning this fall for the Syncere Saturday program.
The Syncere after school program teaches middle school students STEM subjects through project based learning.

Fall Saturday program will run eight weeks and begins on October 15th.

Operating Room of the Future: Observers

Operating Room of the Future

Encouraging multi-disciplinary and rapid innovation.

The ‘Operating Room of the Future’ (ORF) Lab (2012) is a way to continually innovate across the entire spectrum of OR systems. This approach allows us to define, develop, teach and communicate leading edge technologies, processes and environments as progressively as new forms of surgery emerge. The ORF lab is the R&D component of the ORF Initiative.

Under the umbrella of the ORF Initiative there are many areas worth investigating. From training simulations to newly developed display technologies, the ORF Lab is concerned with exploring the areas undergoing the most change and having the largest impact on the OR experience.
