Mark Hallenbeck is the Director of the Caterpillar Lab, a Senior Lecturer in the UIC Computer Science Department, and an experienced human-centered researcher and an innovation methodologies educator at the UIC Innovation Center. His work and research center on bridging human-centered understanding with building technology-enabled solutions. In the UIC Computer Science Department, Mark teaches in the general area of software engineering. As the Director of the Caterpillar Lab, he assembles interdisciplinary teams to research and develop solutions across various product groups for this Fortune 100 company. Mark is the co-creator and lead for the Tech in Residence Program. This program creates a bridge to industry for students through the combination of a semester of experiential learning followed by the opportunity for a paid internship with the program’s corporate partners; AbbVie Pharmaceuticals and Grainger.
