Tomoko Kawanaka came to the Innovation Center in January 2019 and has over a decade of experience working at UIC. Previously she was the Business Manager/Assistant Director at the UIC School of Theatre & Music for 9 years. Prior to coming to UIC, she was with the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs’ Gallery 37 jobs training program for youth for 9 years in various roles, working the final 4 years as the Downtown Program Coordinator on the infamous Block 37.
